Commissions by Indigenous artist Chris Edwards

Chris's paintings are inspired by the landscape of the Gumbaynggirr Nation (Nambucca Heads) where he grew up. The paintings are inspired by significant places and stories told to Chris by his Gumbaynggirr Elders. Chris has exhibited at the Woodford Folk Festival, Woodford QLD; Robyn Woodward Gallery, Glenbrook NSW; Dreamtime Gallery, Melbourne VIC; Adam Knight Gallery, Melbourne VIC; Aboriginal Oceanic Art Fair, Sydney NSW; Campbelltown Arts Centre, Sydney NSW; and the Affordable Art Show (Sydney and Melbourne). Chris held his first solo exhibition, Our Place, at the Seeger Gallery in Leura NSW in 2007. Since then he has held solo exhibitions in various Sydney art galleries. Chris was a finalist in the 2007 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize with his work Yuraawi (Shields); and a finalist in the Fisher's Ghost Art Award 2023 with his work Wirriimbi Home Lands.

Chris is exhibiting new works for sale at the Other Art Fair at the Cutaway, Barangaroo in Sydney on 12-15 October 2023.
